Former first lady Melania Trump, who has not been seen much in public since her husband and former President Donald Trump launched his 2024 campaign, will make a rare appearance this week at the Republican National Convention.
Melania’s attendance at the RNC was confirmed to The Associated Press by two people who spoke on conditional anonymity last week before the attempt on her husband’s life on Saturday at a rally in Butler, Pa.
“Her presence at the convention where her husband will be officially nominated as the Republican candidate will be a boost for the party as it tries to present a united front compared to the crisis the Democratic party faces as some are calling for President Joe Biden to withdraw his reelection bid following his debate performance,” the AP reported.
Melania issued a statement after the assassination attempt, which saw one man killed and two other people severely wounded.
