New Lawsuit Targets NY AG Letitia James—Here’s What’s Happening!

New York Attorney General Letitia James is facing yet another lawsuit, this time over her reversal of an abortion pill protocol.

Last week, the National Institute for Family and Life Advocates, Gianna’s House, Inc., and Choose Life of Jamestown, Inc. filed a lawsuit against New York Attorney General Letitia James. They allege that James is using state regulatory power to prevent nonprofit pregnancy centers and their affiliates from providing information about abortion pill reversal, Newsweek reported.

An Abortion Pill Reversal (APR) procedure involves administering progesterone to a woman who has changed her mind about terminating a pregnancy after taking mifepristone, a drug used to initiate an abortion. The progesterone is intended to counteract the effects of mifepristone, the outlet reported.

The lawsuit states that a woman identified as Maranda recently welcomed her daughter into the world after an assisted reproductive procedure. According to the lawsuit, the mother was taking mifepristone but later changed her mind about her pregnancy and received information from “New Hope Family Services’ website about a method of using FDA-approved progesterone supplements, which physicians may lawfully prescribe under New York law, to save a developing child by counteracting the hormone-blocking effects of mifepristone.”
